Below are some tips:
Tidying
Cleaning and tidying are two separate things. To tidy before a clean, remove everything you can from the floor to make vacuuming easy, even if it's just temporarily putting it up on the bed. Put away everything you can, and if things don't have a home, you can pop them into some boxes for the moment. Store like with like: all the clothes together, all the papers together, all the electronics together, all the art supplies together, and all the other stuff together. Once you separate them into piles, you'll notice it's easier to find a home for them.
I recommend Marie Kondo's books on decluttering. She teaches us to tidy based on what sparks joy!

Other Tips
Most people underestimate the amount of time they need to clean their home. Allow enough time to remove stress from the process.
If you haven't cleaned in a while, expect to sleep better than normal and have sore muscles the next day. Pat yourself on the back for having given your body a workout!
I clean one floor at a time. I tend to clean areas with dampness first then dry areas. So bathrooms and the kitchen are first, then I dust and vacuum the rest of the floor.
In the kitchen, clean the appliances first, then wipe down the counters, clean the sinks, then wash the floor.
When dusting, first clean the mirrors. Next dust, going around the room's edge methodically, then check to see if you missed anything on the inside.
